SLIS Descriptor is the bi-monthly publication of ALASC with new issues published every odd month (January, March, etc.) Our readership is comprised of SLIS students, staff, and alumni. Send questions, ideas, and comments to
the editor. For more information about student publishing, read the

Reasons why you should submit to the SLIS Descriptor
- To demonstrate a variety of SLIS competencies.
- To share knowledge and experiences, peer to peer.
- To gain experience with publishing and working with an editor.
- To influence over 2000 students, the greater SLIS community, and the future of the LIS profession.
- To demonstrate written communication skills.
- It's always great to see your name in print!
Submission Guidelines
- Topics of interest include LIS-related issues and student experiences.
- Students, alumni, and staff are encouraged to contribute articles, art, comic strips, and poetry.
- Contact the editor with your ideas for approval.
- Please email Word or OpenOffice.org articles, JPEG photos, cartoons, and other submissions by the end of even months (February, April, etc.)
- Articles can be from 250 to 1000 words and should include a brief author description and a JPEG photo of the author.
- No strict writing style is required. Simple, straightforward language is encouraged to help readers balance the busy demands of their lives. If writing about a personal experience, feel free to write in first person.
- Include the following with JPEG images: who took it, when it was taken, and what is in the picture.
